Walk for Epilepsy Townsville

I get by with a little help from my friends

I was officially diagnosed with epilepsy aged
8. I am now 31
I have Focal onset aware seizures.
As long as I can remember I have been riding
a roller coaster.
I have had multiple surgeries- one being an
awake craniotomy. I was 15 years old. This
was in attempt to remove a growth which
was causing my seizures.
I have been in and out of hospital where I
stayed for long periods of time. In and out of
emergency. I have had so many tests,
surgeries, been poked and prodded, tested
new medication cocktails none of which
worked. I have intractable epilepsy.
As a result of my last surgery which resulted
in an induced coma and Psychosis I
developed an Acquired brain injury.
I have never been able to drive, have been
discriminated against in many situations
can't work, think clearly (due to medication)
have a baby and so, so much more.
Having multiple seizures per day I am very
grateful to have amazing supports
around me. I am still partaking in regular
rehabilitation an other appointments.
Perseverance, family and friends have been what has
gotten me through this journey and still keep
me going. Thank you for supporting me on my journey.
