Epilepsy Queensland - Terms and Conditions

Entry into Epilepsy Queensland’s Walk for Epilepsy Townsville 2022 is deemed acceptance of these entry terms and conditions for the duration of the event.

  1. I understand that participation in Epilepsy Queensland’s Walk for Epilepsy Townsville may involve walking on public roads and footpaths used by other traffic and I am aware of the hazards involved. In my judgement myself and my dependants have sufficient general fitness and competence to participate in the event.
  2. I agree to abide by the relevant state road and local council rules, obey the directions of course marshals and volunteers, and walk with care and consideration of others on the roads and paths.
  3. I release Epilepsy Queensland, its servants and agents and their contractors, and volunteers from all claims for injury, loss or damage of whatever kind I might suffer as a result of any acts or omissions whether negligent or otherwise of Epilepsy Queensland, its servants or agents and their contractors, in relation to the event.
  1. Safety precautions undertaken by organisers (such as COVID-19 precautions, risk assessments, course supervision, walk safety briefings) are a service to me and other participants but are not a guarantee of safety.
  1. I acknowledge it is my responsibility to ensure I am appropriately hydrated while participating in the Event. 
  1. I understand that I am responsible for managing my own personal hygiene, social distancing and other procedures in line with COVID -19 restrictions and precautions put in place and communicated by the event organisers before and during the event. 
  1. Please do not attend the event if you:
    1. have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID 19) in the 7 days prior or on the day of the Event;
    2. are displaying any symptoms of COVID-19 such as a sore throat, runny nose or cough.
    3. have been in contact, or suspects you have been in contact with a person who is diagnosed as coronavirus (COVID 19) positive in the 7 days prior to the event or on the day of the Event; 
  1. I acknowledge and agree that Epilepsy Queensland may refuse me entry to the event or ask me to leave in any of the following circumstances:
    1. refusal to comply with any reasonable health and safety directions given by Event Organisers.
    2. exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 described above.
    3. exhibiting signs of intoxication.
    4. behaviour is inappropriate, offensive, or abusive.
    5. to prevent damage to any property. 
  1. An adult must accompany all children under the age of 16. 
  1. I acknowledge and agree that Epilepsy Queensland reserves the right to postpone or cancel the Event for any reason. Entrants will be notified of postponements and cancellations via the email address provided in their event entry and via Epilepsy Queensland social media. 
  1. I consent to receiving any medical treatment including ambulance transportation that the event organisers think necessary during or after the event. 
  1. I authorise the attending First Aid officer at the Event, to release the details of any injury sustained or incident occurring involving myself or my dependants, to Epilepsy Queensland. This information is to be used for any purposes deemed necessary to mitigate risk, Epilepsy Queensland may contact me about any aspect of the incident including my injuries. Any such release of medical information will be governed by the terms and conditions applicable to medical records under the Privacy Act 1988. 
  1. I am fully responsible for the security of my personal possessions at the event. 
  1. I give Epilepsy Queensland the right to use images of myself and my dependants, in all forms and media and in all manners including alterations and composite representations, to promote the event without restriction and compensation to the entrant.
  2. I acknowledge Epilepsy Queensland will be entering personal details contained on the entry form into a database which will be used for the administration of the event, including to email and SMS event information to them if they have provided an email and/or mobile phone number. Unless otherwise indicated by entrant on this entry form.
  3. I certify that I am 18 years or older and; 
    1. I have read this document and fully understand it. I agree to the above and I indemnify and will keep indemnified all people and corporations associated with the conduct of the event on the terms referred to.
    2. the parent or legal guardian of the participant. I have read this document and fully understand it. I agree to the above on behalf of my child and I indemnify and will keep indemnified all people and corporations associated with the conduct of the event on the terms referred to.
